Leave unkind feelings all behind, O ye who enter here.
And let the New Life echo through these walls,
With visions of the World as it shall be
When you and I have played our parts and passed away.
Leave to the worn-out days the ancient grudge,
The harboured bitterness,
The cankered searching for our neighbour’s faults,
And let us bring a newer Joy to Life
And live the New Commandment day by day.
Always lend a helping hand to Youth,
To cheer the toiler in his struggling days,
Bring hope to boyhood and bring peace to age,
To do good, not to envy,
and to make other folk’s happiness our own.
Let this be our Religion and our Creed.
So shall this room hold only joyous thoughts,
Here it shall stand for happiness and peace
To lighten dreary days and make them glad.
Thus filled with happy memories shall it be
To all who in their turn, as generations fade and pass away,
Will dwell within this village on the hills,
And make these hamlets famed for happiness
Among all other hamlets round about,
As a sure home of happy fellowship,
A lasting record and a staunch abode
Of the true brotherhood of man.
